Mr. Hafiz Ahmed Mazumdar is a Prominent social worker & Member of Parliament.

Mr. Mazumdar has been involved in export sector business for the last 35 years. Particularly he pioneered in the export oriented ready-made garments industries. In addition Mazumdar is an eminent Tea planter.

Mr. Hafiz Mazumdar is associated with many social welfare activities. He contributed in education sector by establishing "Hafiz Mazumdar Education Trust". The trust provides financial assistance to build new schools and colleges as well as improve the quality of the education in Sylhet district. Many academic institutions in Sylhet district are receiving fund from this trust. Of them "Scholars Home" has gained high reputation in Sylhet in which the national curriculum is taught in English version.
